Husband and dog nap.

Child plays with Legos. Quiet.

The bright sun pours in.

The muscles tremble

Distraction, inaction, mind

Enemies within

Father-son bonding

“Farts are sneezes your butt makes!”

Poor Walt Disney – grave spin!

Dad, monster slayer

Block bogeymen, zap goblins

Snuggle til he sleeps

His grief had no words

Crumpled face, baby-like shrieks

A motherless child

All words seem to fail

What needs to be said cannot

Silent gratitude

Head pulling away

“I don’t want any kisses!”

Tough to give him space

Fear leapt from his chest

Pounced up on me from behind

Monkey on my back

Fat wads of flakes fall

Slushing and frosting my world

My lens changes view

Tickle Monster squeals

Tackles me, wiggles fingers

I laugh out of love
